No Gifts Please
You should never ask guests to bring gifts. This should be something that is left to their own discretion. However that being said, if you do not want guests to bring gifts, include a statement such as, "No gifts please," on the invitations.
Invitations are simple and to the point - a request for their presence, at your reaffirmation ceremony, your names, the date and the address will usually do it. Making mention of "no gifts please" is acceptable, unless you are renewing vows in conjunction with an anniversary, some guests will bring gifts. Should gifts be received, a gracious and timely thank you note is nice.
